Nikon also recently introduced two new high-power point-and-shoot cameras with exceptional zoom capabilities—something a smartphone can't do.

The Nikon COOLPIX B600 features a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor and advanced EXPEED image-processing engine to capture detailed images in challenging light conditions. You can nail the shot from a distance with a 60x optical zoom NIKKOR lens that spans a 24-1440mm equivalent focal range, or go even further with 120x Dynamic Fine Zoom. It's equipped with Macro mode, which allows users to enjoy macro photography with shooting as close as 1 centimeter to the lens at the maximum wide-angle position. Capture sharp photos and smooth video thanks to the built-in vibration reduction (VR) mechanism, capable of reducing camera shake to the same degree as a 3.0-stop increase in shutter speed with still photography, and a 4-axis Hybrid VR that effectively reduces blur with video recording. The 19 scene modes automatically optimize camera setting according to the scene the user is trying to capture, such as the Multiple Exposure Lighten mode, which captures dramatic nightscapes and light paths, like the flow of car lights. Select from 36 different creative effects and filters. Intuitive controls like Snap Back Zoom and Side Zoom controls make it possible for photographers of all levels to capture far-away subjects with ease. Record high-quality 1080/60i and 1080/30p Full HD movies with stereo sound. Seamlessly share thanks to the camera's built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and the SnapBridge app, which automatically transfers images to a compatible smart device wile the user continues shooting. It also offers support for the ML-L7 Remote Control, capable of a variety of operations over a Bluetooth connection to the camera.

When it comes to cameras, smartphones have had an impact on the industry, but there are cameras that rise above that trend to offer capabilities you simply can't capture with a phone.

"The traditional camera business for us is dead," said Carey Berg, vice president, Special Markets for Vivitar/Sakar. "The items with cameras in them that we do sell are: drones, doorbell cams, Wi-Fi home security cams, and sports action cams."

Digital cameras continue to see yearly declines ever since the introduction of the smartphone camera, while the instant camera category continues to thrive.

For example, the sky's the limit when you use the Vivitar Follow Me SkyView Aerial Drone. Wi-Fi connectivity allows users to take to the sky and control the camera and drone via the smartphone app (iOS and Android). This high-flying camera has a 360-degree vantage point that is able to circle around fully for a bigger and better view. Able to flip in all directions, this drone gives you infinite possibilities to capture your favorite moments on its Full HD camera and video with 16.1 megapixels. With built-in dual GPS, this drone will follow you around without controlling it, and it also features auto take-off and landing, return home and hover modes. Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity allows you to control the camera and drone with the app for easy usage and footage.
