Best Summer Ever

It's so close! It's almost here! Summer is right around the corner, and—happy sigh—there's just something about the season. It always seems so full of potential. Before it arrives, it feels like an endless number of days. Days in which I will bike more miles than ever before. Days when the vegetable garden will be the most productive it's ever been with no horrible cucumber beetles or tomato blight. Days that will stretch into evenings on the front porch, relaxing with the dog and whichever neighbor stops by for a beer.

It is going to be the best. summer. ever.

Of course, once it's reality and not just daydreams, other things will come up. Doesn't matter if it's winter or summer, we all get busy and distracted. And in the blink of an eye, it'll all be gone, and we'll be left wondering what happened to all those good things we were supposed to get.

So we find ways to hang onto it. Not just literal summer, but our metaphorical summers—all those precious moments when life is full of potential and everything is just as it should be.

If you're in the business of motivation, you are in the business of architecting those moments. You want your employees, your partners, your sales reps and your customers to get caught up in the dream—the potential for something good. And you hope that once they're caught up, they'll do what's necessary to make the dream a reality.

This month, we've got plenty of ideas here to help you get from point A to point B, starting with one of the best tools around for capturing those good moments when they happen: digital cameras. Sure, pretty much everyone can snap some photos with their phone these days, but when you're making—and keeping—memories, nothing beats the power and performance of a camera. Turn to page 10 to find out why.

We also take a look at what's trending in gift cards, as well as new ideas for sales incentive programs and the impact of corporate social responsibility on incentive programs, along with all the usual roundup of incentive merchandise ideas and more.

So flip through and let these pages start the daydream-machine, then get up and get going toward your own best summer ever.

If you need me, I'll be in the garden, pulling weeds and smashing cucumber beetles.
