Motivation Show Updates
Date Change, New Annual Event Planned for 2014

The annual Motivation Show is upon us, and with that comes some news that the Incentive Marketing Association (IMA) and The Motivation Show will produce a new annual event in cooperation with PPAI's brand.—beginning in 2014.

Dubbed The Motivation Show Las Vegas, the new event will be sponsored by the IMA and include a combined exhibit hall with PPAI (Promotional Products Association International) brand. The event is scheduled for Jan. 15 to 17, 2014, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

"We're very excited about this opportunity to co-locate a new event with PPAI's highly successful brand. We're anxious to provide the distributor community with an opportunity to learn more about how incentives can help them expand their product offering and capture new corporate business," said Pete Erickson, managing director of The Motivation Show. "We also see this as a great opportunity for our community of incentive end-buyers and resellers in the Western states to have access to education, exhibits and networking that has previously only been available in Chicago. We believe this co-location between IMA, The Motivation Show and PPAI will be a catalyst to increasing the use of incentive rewards and promotional products throughout corporate America."

Erickson, who also is president of Hall-Erickson Inc., said there are two main reasons for creating the new show in Las Vegas: "To provide the distributor community at the PPAI Expo with an opportunity to learn more about how incentives can help them expand their product offering and capture new corporate business. And, to provide our community of incentive end-buyers and resellers in the Western states access to education, exhibits, and networking that has previously only been available in Chicago," Erickson said.

In comparison to the show in Chicago, he said it is "Largely the same from the standpoint of the exhibits, although we expect the education will be geared toward the local business community and emphasize loyalty programs (gaming) and employee recognition (hospitality), and there will be more networking functions due to the destination nature of Las Vegas."

Karen Renk, CAE, executive director, IMA, added: "Co-locating the show with PPAI brand. in Las Vegas in January 2014, will introduce the show to an entirely new audience of distributors who traditionally attend the PPAI Expo and Conference. Las Vegas also is a location that is attractive to end-buyers and has the built-in advantage of being the home to major hotels and casinos, key users of incentives."

Meanwhile, this year's Motivation Show, which will be held Oct. 23 to 25 at McCormick West in Chicago, includes something new, too: a series of 20-minute, tactical clinics on the floor at the Motivation Show that will address incentive program basics and appropriate award choices. The sessions are complimentary for show attendees.
